Here are a list of services we offer to our patients:

Clinical Audiometry – Air, Bone and Speech
Using state of the art equipment our staff will present a series of tones through headphones while you are seated in a sound proof booth. These tones will be at varying frequencies and volume to find out exactly what you can and cannot hear.  You will also be presented a list of words to complete in order to test your clarity of the words spoken.

Middle Ear Measurement or Tympanometry
Tympanometry is an examination used to test the condition of the middle ear and mobility of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the conduction bones by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal. A small probe will be inserted in the ear and air will be blown in and sucked back out charting the movement of the eardrum.

Auditory Brainstem Responsegirl child

  • The ABR test measures the reaction of the parts of a child’s nervous system that affect hearing. (The ABR test measures the hearing nerve’s response to sounds.)
  • An ABR test is often ordered if a newborn fails the hearing screening test given in the hospital shortly after birth, or for older children if there is a suspicion of hearing loss that was not confirmed through more conventional hearing tests.
  • The ABR test is safe and does not hurt.
  • The ABR test can be completed only if the child is sleeping or lying perfectly still, relaxed and with his or her eyes closed.
  • If your child is younger than 6 months of age, the ABR test usually can be done while he or she naps.

This tests helps to determine if there is hearing at any frequency.  It can also be used on adults to test for tumors or blockage to the eighth nerve.

Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR)
ASSR is an objective test used for the evaluation of hearing in children too young for other forms of audiometric testing. The child is hooked up with a series of electrodes placed around the head and is not painful in any way. This test can be used to estimate a pure-tone audiogram.

Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE)
Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are sounds given off by the inner ear by the cochlea when a sound is presented. When the sound stimulates the cochlea, the outer hair cells vibrate. This vibration produces an inaudible sound that echoes back into the middle ear. The sound can be measured with a small probe tube entered into the ear. People with normal hearing produce emissions. Those with a hearing loss greater than 25-30db do not. The OAE test is a part of our Newborn Infant Hearing Screening Program.

Speech Map/Real Ear Measurement
girl earOn a real-ear measurement device what is displayed is the actual acoustic energy that exists within a person’s ear canal. While a person is wearing a hearing aid, a flexible tube is inserted alongside the hearing aid and stops between the tip of the earmold and the eardrum. This tube leads from the ear canal to a microphone situated outside the ear. The sounds detected by this “probe-tube” system reveal the real-ear output of the hearing aid for the individual wearing it. It’s not a guess and not an estimate; it depicts the actual sound reaching the eardrum of the hearing aid user. No other measurement of hearing aid performance can do this. Real-ear measurement should be done routinely during every hearing aid selection procedure and repeated routinely during follow-up appointments. This offers the very best possible fitting of an hearing aid. Matching your audiogram to the amplification of the hearing aid.

Hearing Aid Test Box
A hearing aid test box is a specialized device which enables the frequency response, distortion and output level of a hearing aid to be measured.

Custom Ear Mold Lab with 3D Printing Technology
By having our own custom ear mold lab on the premises we can offer you the most comfortable fitting ever. With our 3D printing capability your earmold will be exactly to your specifications.

Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA/COR)
VRA units are used to help test hearing on babies and small children. Plexiglass boxes with motion activated toys are placed on top of the speakers in the sound booth. When a sound is presented and the child hears it they will turn their head to look for the sound. When they do, they are rewarded by seeing the toy is the box light up and begin to move.

Newborn Hearing Screening
We offer hearing screening for infants, this testing can be done within hours of birth. We utilize OAE and ABR testing as needed to provide an accurate test.

Hearing Aid Repair
Our trained technicians can assist with the cleaning and repair of your hearing aids. With our supply of parts we are able to fix the majority of problems normally encountered with hearing aids.
